The Mike Pero Nelson Giants had a crucial win over the Canterbury Rams to return to the top four. Ray Cowells scored a season high 35 points in the 107-97 win and is currently second in the league in scoring at 25.8 points per game. This season Cowells has scored 30 or more five times and at four times in his last six games.
Finn Delany also contributed in the Giants win with 26 points and 12 rebounds. Delany is averaging a career best 16.3 points, 7.6 rebounds and is shooting 59.3% from the field.
The Wellington Saints remained at the top of the table with a 91-80 over the Augusta Airs. Torrey Craig had 23 points and a season best 18 rebounds making it seven straight double-doubles.
It was a good weekend for the James Blond Supercity Rangers with two wins, putting them to second place with eight wins and five losses. Lindsay Tait had a season high 26 against the Hawks, and Corey Webster tallied 31 points, seven rebounds and five assists.
Webster will be in a neck and neck battle for the scoring title with team mate Eric Devendorf. Webster is averaging 27.0 points, Devendorf is at 27.1
The Rams bounced back after the loss to Nelson, beating the Augusta Airs 95-82. Point guard, McKenzie Moore, had 21 points and nine assists. Marcel Jones had 21 points and 11 rebounds.
