The James Blond Supercity Rangers have held off the Augusta 110-108 despite the monumental effort from Aaron Fuller.
Fuller scored 54 points making it the highest point total since 2003 when Canterbury Rams import John Whorton had 50 against the Hawks.
The Taranaki forward shot 25/34 for the field and grabbed 19 rebounds.
Unfortunately it was enough for the Airs who end the season 0-18, the second time they have finished a season without a win (0-16 in 2009).
Jason Cadee also had a career high of 40 points making up for the absence of fellow Australian forward Tom Garlepp.
Reuben Te Rangi had 21 and veteran guard Hayden Allen added 20 for the Rangers who go into the semi-finals with some momentum winning their last two.
After trailing by 10 at halftime, the Airs closed to within two point and had a chance to win or tie the game with seconds to go. But Fuller missed the game tying opportunity.
The fourth placed Rangers will turn their attentions to the Semi-Finals where they face the top of the table Zerofees Southland Sharks. The second placed Mike Pero Nelson Giants will take on the Wellington Saints in the other next Saturday at TSB Bank Arena, Wellington.
