Wellington Saints guard Dion Prewster is Round 12 player of the week after scoring 40 points in the win over the Indigo Hawks.
It was a career high for Prewster who scored the 40 in a little over 20 minutes of court time, shooting 8/12 from three.
Prewster would argubaly be a top contender if there was a sixth man award, leading the league in bench scoring at 13.5 per game.
Wellington ended their regular season on a high note with two wins, including a 96-83 win over the Mike Pero Nelson Giants, effectively eliminating them from a Final Four spot.
Shea Ili (25 pts, 5 reb, 5 ast) and Leon Henry (20 pts, 10 rebs) helped guide the Saints after they trailed by as many as 17.
The Canterbury Rams ended their season with a 116-98 win over the James Blond Supercity Rangers, claiming their first regular season title since 1993. McKenzie Moore continued his MVP type season with
a double-double of 23 points and 10 assists, to go along with his eight rebounds. Moore has formed a dynamic duo this season with Marcel Jones who had 27 points and 10 rebounds.
Canterbury will look to repeat this performance again versus the Rangers who they will face in the first semi-final this coming Friday.
The Rangers then had to face the SIT Zerofees Sharks the following night in Invercargill, going down 107-98. Australians Mitch Norton (21 pts, 9 ast) and Nick Kay (18 pts, 14 reb) helped guide the Sharks to their second
straight win at home, gaining perfect momentum heading into the semi's where they will face the Saints in a rematch of last year's Grand Final.
The one bright spot for the Rangers was the play of Corey Webster, who averaged 34.5 points on the road trip, including shooting 7/12 three's at ILT Stadium, Invargill which is tradionally one of the toughest hoops to shoot on.
Taranaki ended their season on a high note with a 91-67 win over the Indigo Hawks. It was a collective performance from the Airs with all five starters reaching over double-digit points. Taranaki centre Daniel Miller grabbed a double-double
of 15 points and 10 rebounds, finishing the season second in rebounding (10.6) behind Sharks centre Alex Pledger (11.4) who claims second rebounding title.
