2015 Bartercard NBL Media Release: Zerofees Sharks cruise to a 100-74 win over the Jets
The Zerofees Sharks have made an emphatic statement to start their season with a convincing 100-74 win over the Breakers Manawatu Jets.
New addition’s Todd Blanchfield and Duane Bailey combined for 50 points for the Sharks who got off to a quick start outscoring the visitors 30-20 in the opening period, extending their lead to as many as 30 in the final period.
Blanchfield led all scorers with 28, Bailey had 22 and NZ Breakers forward Tai Wesley added 18 points and seven rebounds.
Former Nelson Giant Brook Ruscoe scored a team high 15 for the Jets, American point guard Brandon Jenkins the next best with 14.
Southland will have the rest of the Easter off before they play the Canterbury Rams in Christchurch on Friday, April 10.
Manawatu will now travel north to play the Rams on Good Friday.
Tomorrow the Augusta Airs will host the defending champion Wellington Saints, and will try to beat them for the second straight time at home.
