JUNIOR TALL BLACKS RETURN FROM CHINA AND PREPARATION FOR U19 FIBA WORLD CUP
The Junior Tall Blacks have just returned from China after playing in an Atlas Challenge tournament against China, Poland and Denmark.

The JTBs played nine games over 10 days, with the team winning five. Two games were pushed to overtime and seven of the nine games were decided by eight points or less.

The team gained valuable international basketball experience. That time together will be essential if they are to perform at the FIBA U19 World Cup, to be held in Greece this coming June.

New Zealand, ranked 28 in the world, have been placed in the tournament’s pool of death with the top two ranked boys teams: USA (1) and Lithuania (2).  Senegal (39) rounds it out. Only 16 teams have qualified for the event.

New Zealand’s first match will be against the US. The top two teams from each pool will advance to the next round.
