Debuted for the Tall Ferns in 2008.

Was a member of the 2018 Commonwealth Games bronze medal winning team averaging 10 points and 6.6 rebounds per game.

Played all 6 games for the Tall Ferns at the FIBA Asia Cup in 2017 averaging 7.7 points and 6.2 rebounds per game and again all five games at 2019 FIBA Asia Cup in India. Played all three games at 2019 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Auckland where she scored 17 points in the notable win against Korea.

Was part of the 2018 Tall Ferns 3×3 Gold medal winning team at the FIBA Asia Cup in China.

Currently playing for the Melbourne Boomers Farnworth has played over 250 games in the Australian WNBL – a record number of appearances for a New Zealand player.

Farnworth played for the Christchurch Sirens in the Australian WNBL in 2007-8.

Following the Sirens only season in the WNBL she played for Dandenong Rangers (2009-10), Bendigo Spirit (2010-11) and Adelaide Lightning (2011-12) before moving to Western Australia where she played six consecutive seasons for Perth Lynx (2013-19).
