Sky Sport announced as new sponsor for New Zealand Tall Ferns

Sky Sport is continuing its support of women’s sport with a new sponsorship deal with the New Zealand Tall Ferns, now called the Sky Sport Tall Ferns.

Cathryn Oliver, Sport Relationship Manager at SKY, says they are delighted to reinforce the organisation’s support of basketball.

“We already work closely with Basketball New Zealand and we’re delighted to be deepening our support of basketball with this new sponsorship with the Tall Ferns.

“Sky is committed to supporting and enhancing local sports teams, and our sponsorship of the Tall Ferns follows our support for the Phoenix, Warriors women, the Kiwis, the Kiwi Ferns, the Junior Kiwis and the Sky Sport Breakers,” says Oliver.

Iain Potter, Chief Executive Basketball New Zealand, says Basketball New Zealand is celebrating and the basketball community will be thrilled with this show of support.

“This is a massive moment for Tall Ferns – it has been many years since the Tall Ferns have had a naming sponsor. This backing from Sky Sport not only shows their devotion to helping New Zealand sport, but also that New Zealand women’s basketball is gaining momentum and Sky recognises Kiwis’ growing love of the game.

“Sky have backed the Sal’s NBL this year, broadcast the Tall Blacks World Cup preparation and a number of World Cup games, a number of our age-group Aon National’s events, the Women’s Basketball Championship finals, and now they have put their support behind women’s basketball again,” says Mr Potter.

The Tall Ferns are currently playing in the FIBA Women’s Asia Cup in Bengaluru, India (24-29 September).
