Sky Sport Tall Ferns Asia Cup Games Live on TV

Following yesterday’s announcement that Sky Sport has become naming right sponsor of the New Zealand Tall Ferns, Sky Sport have secured the rights to broadcast the remaining games of the FIBA Asia Cup currently being held in India.

The Sky Sport Tall Ferns next game will be against the Philippines tonight at 7:45pm NZT.

Sky have partnered with Maori TV to bring the Tall Ferns to New Zealand basketball fans – the games will also be available On Demand at www.maoritelevision.com.

Basketball New Zealand Chief Executive, Iain Potter, says he appreciated the flexibility Sky and Maori Television have shown to ensure the games are available for New Zealanders.

“This is an outstanding show of support for the Tall Ferns as they battle Asia’s best in the Asia Cup. Tonight’s game verse the Philippines is a big one and I’m certain it will be an entertaining battle for viewers.

“As I’ve said before, we want more Kiwi girls playing basketball and seeing the game as a great option for fun, family, friends and community. And, of course, it’s a great pathway to a free education at college and professional sport if that is their dream. Those aspirations are best fostered through those players already living that dream and representing New Zealand in the black singlet. Seeing the Tall Ferns on our screens shows the Kiwis have got game and women’s basketball is on the rise. So yes, this is a great show of support from New Zealand-proud media,” said Potter.
