At a Glance | March Madness #10

There is just one game to report on in today’s March Madness update.

Unfortunately it produced heartbreak for Tegan Graham, Kaylee Smiler and their Brigham Young University (BYU) teammates in the West Coast Conference Championship game. With 0.6 seconds left Gonzaga’s Jill Townsend scored to edge Gonzaga to the narrowest of wins 43-42 to deny BYU the conference title and an automatic spot at the NCAA Division I National Championships.

Tegan scored seven points (3/5FG), had three rebounds and a steal in 27 minutes of action whilst Kaylee snared a steal and a rebound.

BYU will now have to wait until Monday’s NCAA Women’s Selection Show to see if they make the final 64 for the National Championships.

Congratulations to Kendell Heremaia and Akienne-Tera Reed who are amongst the athletes bestowed All-Atlantic 10 honours.

Kendell ,named to the All-Atlantic 10 Second Team, is averaging 13.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. She is now just 64 points shy of 1,000 career points.

“Kene continues to improve every year and this year brought a new level of confidence,” said Fordham Head Coach Stephanie Gaitley.

Tera, named to the All-Atlantic 10 Third Team, is averaging 11.3 points, 4.9 rebounds and a career high 3.9 assists per game. She also led the Atlantic 10 free throw percentage at 82.9%.
