At a Glance | March Madness #7

March Madness continued today with double delight for the Perrott-Hunt family.

Kruz Perrott-Hunt helped University of South Dakota Coyotes to a convincing 86-69 Summit League quarter-final win against Western Illinois.

The Tall Black guard scored 12 points at an efficient 5 from 8 from the field and also produced a season high 7 assists in 34 productive minutes for the Coyotes who move on to the Summit League semi-finals.

Also enjoying success was sister Georgia with Tiffin University Dragons winning the Great Midwest Conference title.

Having graduated at Griffin last year, Georgia is studying for her Masters at the same time as undertaking Grad Assistant Coach responsibilities with the Dragons.

Having beaten number one seed Cedarville in the semi-final, they defeated #2 Kentucky Wesleyan 61-57 in the final. They will now head to NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional Championship play-offs.

Thomas Webley and the University of Hartford Hawks are headed to the America East Conference final after defeating #1 Vermont 71-65 in a tense semi-final.

The former Cashmere High standout, in his freshman season at Hartford, scored 3 points in 12 minutes as Coach Gallagher shortened his rotation to just seven players.

Seeded fourth, Hartford will have to wait a full week before facing #6 University of Massachusetts Lowell in the championship game.

At the West Coast Conference Tournament in Las Vegas St Mary’s Gaels women almost caused a second upset in as many days while the men won a tight quarter-final.

Tall Black Dan Fotu tallied 7 points and 7 rebounds in a low scoring 52-47 victory over Loyola Marymount and will now play #1 Gonzaga in the semi-final.

Having beaten Pacific 24 hours earlier, St Mary’s women came up just short against third seeded San Francisco in the quarter-finals going down 69-63.

Jade Kirisome led the Gaels scoring with 13 points while Tall Fern Amy West was close behind with 12 points and 6 rebounds.

San Francisco will line-up against Tegan Graham, Kaylee Smiler and second seeded BYU in the semi-finals on Monday.

There wasn’t such good news out of the Atlantic 10 Conference Championships with third seeded Davidson College Wildcats beaten 64-52 by number two Virginia Commonwealth.

Sam Mennenga finished with 5 rebounds for Davidson.

Abilene Christian wrapped up regular season play with an emphatic 85-60 win against Incarnate Word. Former Junior Tall Black Tobias Cameron finished with 13 points and 6 rebounds as Abilene head to the Southland Conference Tournament with an impressive 13-2 record.

Younger brother Flynn Cameron and California State University Riverside have finished with their best Big West Conference regular season record in 19 years, closing with 8 wins and 4 losses.

Angus McWilliam chipped in with 4 points and 3 rebounds.

In NCAA Division II Aniwaniwa Tait-Jones and Hawaii at Hilo shared the spoils with Chaminade University over the weekend.  Hilo finish 10-2 in the PacWest Conference after both sides recorded a win in their double-header with Tait-Jones scoring 13 points in Sunday’s loss.
