This award goes to Jayden Rosanowski.
Jayden enjoyed a tremendous 2023 refereeing both at a local and national level and has given a lot of time for the recruitment and development of referees, via his work at his local club Pioneer.
His highlights included refereeing:
- The Women’s U19 National Final
- The Women’s Tertiary Championship National Final
- The Division One Thomson Trophy Final – this is Canterbury Basketball’s top boys’ High School Competition.
- He was named Canterbury Basketball’s Most Valuable Senior Referee, and was named The University of Canterbury’s Sports Official of the Year
Jayden has also contributed in the following ways to basketball in Aotearoa:
- A lead Referee throughout BBNZ’s 3×3 Pro Quest Christchurch stops
- Refereeing at Tall Blacks and Tall Ferns High Performance camps;
- Leading rules sessions for High Performance coaches and players.
He also has worked tirelessly at the Pioneer club in Canterbury helping to appoint and train referees for their competitions.
His citation reads:
“Jayden has organized all players involved in Canterbury Basketball competitions to referee a game during the season. He has also been at the center of a new initiative called the “Whistle Club”, where referees enjoy food and friendship, whilst discussing various refereeing topics”.
“In addition to being a high-level referee, he is also regularly appointed as a scorebench official for NZ Breakers, the Canterbury Rams, and the Mainland Pouākai games.
Jayden is a leader in the referee community in Canterbury.
