Basketball New Zealand (BBNZ) are calling for Expressions of Interest for passionate people across the basketball community to join our new National Girls Got Game Working Group [GWG].
Girls Got Game is the home of BBNZ’s girls’ basketball programme. Established in 2019, the programme aims to introduce more girls to basketball and encourages them to continue being active with their friends and enjoy their basketball journey – wherever it may take them.
The objective of this working group is to ensure that Girls Got Game is a relevant and constantly evolving programme, leading to an increase in the number of girls playing basketball across Aotearoa.
Meaghan Wilby, BBNZ’s Participation and Wellbeing Lead says that growing the game for women and girls is currently the number one growth opportunity for basketball.
“This working group is a really exciting opportunity for us to ensure that how we do that from a national perspective truly meets the needs of our communities by including them in the design process and conversations – starting with how we evolve and improve the Girls Got Game Programme,” says Wilby.
Applicants for the GWG are not required to be a paid employee within basketball but must have the support or endorsement of one of the 36 Associations across the country – and be actively involved in the development of the female game in their community.
There will also be the opportunity for voices external to the BBNZ membership to be included in working group discussions on an individual basis. The full Terms of Reference can be found at http://bbnz.link/mjss0
