Basketball New Zealand (BBNZ) and NZ Esports are excited to announce its final team of 6 players for the New Zealand Esports basketball national team to face Guam in next month’s online eFIBA Regional Finals.
The 6 players named are: Cameron Allan (OnlySenseii), Kaden Bull (Whished), Cameron Fox (oHorsii), Solomona Faitaua-Nanai (Solomona__), Bailey Jae Macdonald (xBcileyy) & Jaxon Sutton (Flumeto).
Should the New Zealand NBA 2K eSports Team beat Guam in this three-game Oceania Qualifier series, New Zealand will then proceed to the in-person eFIBA World Finals 2024 which this year will be held in the Philippines from 11-12 December to determine the world’s best national eFIBA team.
Team named after squad friendlies
The team of 6 has been named after a series of inter-squad friendly games between the extended squad of 12 players named in the middle of September.
The team sees the inclusion of 3 players – Flumeto, OnlySenseii & oHorsii who represented New Zealand in eFIBA Season 2; both against Guam in last year’s Oceania Qualifying Series and in the 2023 eFIBA World Finals in Sweeden.
eFIBA Season 3
Season 3 of eFIBA commenced in October this year, with 62 countries participating in online Regional Qualifiers and Regional Finals across the four FIBA Regions of Africa, Americas, Asia (including Oceania) and Europe. All games are played on the PlayStation 5 in NBA 2K25.
The 2024 eFIBA World Finals is set to take place in the Philippines from 11-12 December, in the city of Clark at the SMX Clark Convention Center.
The highly anticipated conclusion of eFIBA Season 3 will see the best eight nations globally competing to become World Champions, including the regional champions from Africa, Asia, Europe, Middle East, North and South America and Oceania present, along with the Europe runners-up.
A total of 40 players will fight it out on the PlayStation 5 with the newly released NBA 2K25 for the eFIBA World Champion crown and a share of the $50,000 prize pool, as they look to defeat current holders USA who took out the championship in 2023.
Oceania Qualifier Final – New Zealand vs Guam
The New Zealand Esports basketball National team will face Guam in the online eFIBA Oceania Qualifier Finals from 8pm on Saturday 19 October.
