Following yesterday’s FIBA Asia Cup draw in Doha, New Zealand has been pooled with Philippines, Chinese Taipei, and Hong Kong in Group B of the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers.
The 24 teams in contention for the 2025 Asia Cup were divided into six groups of four. Each team will play the three other teams in a home-and-away format over three windows, with each window having two games. The qualifying windows will be held in February 2024, November 2024, and February 2025.
The top two teams of each group will qualify for the FIBA Asia Cup, while the third-placed teams from each group will compete in a final qualifying round where only the top four teams will advance to the FIBA Asia Cup.
They will also earn their place for the qualifiers of the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup in Qatar, alongside Qatar who automatically qualified for the World Cup as host.
Details on the Tall Black’s draw for the February 2024 qualifying window is expected to follow shortly.
