Two Kiwi basketball legends will be enshrined into the BBNZ Hall of Fame at the 2022 BBNZ Awards next month.
While the identity of both players will remain tightly under wraps until the night of the BBNZ Awards on 7 May, BBNZ GM Events, David Huxford says the two players enter the Hall based on their impressive resumes across the Tall Blacks, NBL and in overseas competition.
“Both players are already household names in the New Zealand basketball community and each are extremely deserving of this award,” says Huxford.
“It’ll be a genuine pleasure to hand the awards to these two champions of the game at next months’ BBNZ Awards – and to see their names included alongside the likes of past winners such as Glen Denham, Pero Cameron and Sean Marks.
“We’ll also be welcoming a new inductee into the BBNZ Legend category, as well as giving out our first ever Lifetime Achievement award – to someone who has given over 60 years of service to basketball. So it’s going to be a very special and exciting evening.”
The BBNZ Awards are an annual event which celebrates basketball in Aotearoa; acknowledging players, coaches, officials and volunteers for their achievements either for the 2021 calendar year or in recognition of their basketball careers. This year a record 29 awards will be handed out.
