Welcome to the whānau Chemist Warehouse!

We are incredibly excited to announce a landmark partnership with community pharmacy leader Chemist Warehouse!

This major collaboration sees Chemist Warehouse become a key partner of our Sal’s National Basketball League (NBL), G.J. Gardner Homes Tauihi Basketball Aotearoa, and Sky Broadband Rapid League competitions, while also taking on the naming rights to our transformative Hoops in Schools programme. This partnership is set to make a lasting impact on Kiwi communities, helping break down barriers to participation and ensuring more tamariki and rangatahi can enjoy the sport.

A key part of our partnership with Chemist Warehouse’s is their donation mechanic, which links free throws made during games to direct contributions towards our Hoops in Schools programme. These donations will go towards installing fit-for-purpose basketball hoops in schools across the motu, creating sustainable opportunities for children to play and thrive.

Chemist Warehouse New Zealand CEO Azman Haroon expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating:
“We’re thrilled to be working alongside Basketball New Zealand to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Kiwi kids. By supporting the Hoops in Schools programme and fostering community participation, we aim to help tamariki and rangatahi lead active, healthy lives, while falling in love with basketball. We’re proud to align with a sport and organisation that champions diversity, inclusion, and positive community outcomes.”

Since its inception, Hoops in Schools has been a game-changer, with over 200 hoops installed nationwide and many more to come thanks to Chemist Warehouse’s investment. The programme addresses one of our sport’s biggest challenges—limited access to suitable equipment and facilities—by equipping schools with the resources needed to grow the game sustainably.

Our Chief Executive Dillon Boucher highlights the significance of the partnership:
“Basketball is one of the fastest-growing sports in Aotearoa, but we know a lack of infrastructure can hold back participation. Chemist Warehouse’s support allows us to reach more communities and give tamariki and rangatahi the chance to be active, have fun, and develop a love for the game.”

The partnership extends beyond grassroots basketball, with Chemist Warehouse also securing:

  • Major partnership rights for the Sal’s NBL, G.J. Gardner Homes Tauihi Basketball Aotearoa, and Sky Broadband Rapid League competitions, including naming rights to the foul line.
  • Broadcast integration and statistics sponsorship through Sky, enhancing the fan experience.
  • Top 5 Plays of the Week sponsorship, engaging fans and highlighting player achievements.

Welcome to the whānau Chemist Warehouse, we’re excited to have you in the team.
