Aon U17 Nationals Takes Charge in Hamilton – Day One Recap

Day one of the Aon U19 Nationals started this morning in Hamilton, playing across three different stadiums in the Waikato Region. 38 teams and 400+ players made their way to the 07 for the second Aon Nationals tournament of the season.

Some close games headlined the day, such as Nelson’s narrow loss to Harbour 103-105 in the Boys Competition. Jonty Kells from Manawatū managed to snap up 41 points in a 94-74 victory against Hawkes Bay, and Christian Vano Jnr smashing 51 points down for Waikato Country over Southland in their 106-54 win.

The Girls Competition saw Harbour leading the way undefeated in Pool C, and also saw a close game between Auckland and Manawatū 58-64. Josey Hansen from Thames Valley helped her team to a 68-59 win over Auckland with a 35 point performance, including four three-pointers. In a 86-53 win to Waikato over Hawkes Bay, Olivia Lassey managed to claim 31 points and helped their team to top the table of Pool B.
