Sky and Basketball New Zealand extend partnership, with ThreeNow becoming the home of domestic basketball in New Zealand
Sky and Basketball New Zealand (BBNZ) have today announced an extension to their partnership that will see the national basketball leagues available live and free-to-air on ThreeNow.
For the first time, from 2027, fans will be able to watch every domestic game across Sal’s National Basketball League (Sal’s NBL), G.J. Gardner Homes Tauihi Basketball Aotearoa (G.J. Gardner Tauihi) and Rapid League, live and free in one place.
The renewed partnership reflects a shared ambition to grow the game, expand audiences, and make it easier for fans across Aotearoa to follow their favourite teams and players.
Adam Crothers, Sky’s Head of Content Partnerships, said: “Our partnership with Basketball New Zealand has always been about more than coverage, it’s about growing the game and connecting more Kiwis with the excitement of basketball.
“This next phase is all about accessibility. Basketball has a young and growing fanbase. By bringing live games to ThreeNow, we’re making it easier than ever for fans across Aotearoa to access and enjoy the sport, wherever and however they choose to watch.”
Belinda Edwards, CEO at Basketball New Zealand, said: “This partnership with Sky has helped transform the visibility of basketball in Aotearoa, and we’re excited to continue that journey.
“Our domestic competitions are the shop front of our sport, showcasing incredible basketball talent. Making our competitions more available to more New Zealanders is a significant step forward for the game and, in an evolving broadcast landscape, reflects the growing demand and momentum behind basketball in Aotearoa.
Selected matches from the upcoming G.J. Gardner Homes Tauihi season later in 2026 will be available to watch on ThreeNow, supporting the continued growth and visibility of the competition, as well as comprehensive live coverage on Sky Sport and Sky Sport Now.
From 2027, all matches across, Sal’s NBL, Rapid League and G.J. Gardner Homes Tauihi will be streamed live and free on ThreeNow, as well as on Sky Sport and Sky Sport Now. This shift will make elite domestic basketball more accessible than ever before, giving fans across the country a simple, free way to watch every game live.
Sky and BBNZ will continue to work together to support the long-term growth of basketball in New Zealand, with a shared focus on building audiences, growing participation, and creating great experiences for fans.
