Christchurch played host to the fourth stop of the Youthtown 3×3 Quest Tour on Saturday, with 39 teams across five different categories taking the court at Pioneer Stadium.
The Open Mens category was claimed by Lincoln Blue, who defeated the Unicorns in the final 21-14. They went a perfect 7-0 on the day and their efforts have earned them a spot in the 3×3 Quest Tour Finals in March.
In the Open Womens it was the Sparks who came away with the spoils, posting a perfect 5-0 record with a 14-10 victory over Connect 4 in the final. Kat Jones, wife of former Tall Black Phil Jones and member of the Nelson Sparks, featured in the victorious Sparks squad along with her daughter Maia.
The U19 Male category saw JBT take down STAC in the final by a score of 16-13. They also achieved a perfect record going 6-0. JBT’s undefeated day made even more impressive by the fact they played without a substitution.
The Jets were the victors of the U17 Female category, defeating the Mavericks 6-5 in a tightly contested final.
The U15 Male category was hotly contested but eventually saw Average Joes claim victory over Chur the Dox Ow in the final 9-7.
The Youthtown 3X3 Quest Tour heads to Dunedin next Sunday on February 20. Teams can register now at play.fiba3x3.com.
