This award goes to Alastair Tod.
Alastair’s long career as a Technical Official began in the 1980’s when he was responsible for the overall coordination of the score table and stats teams for the North Harbour National League team, the Women’s team and a second division men’s team. He also qualified as a referee and officiated a number of games in the Women’s Division 1 and Men’s Division 2 fixtures.
During the 1990’s until present he has continued to coordinate both the score table and stats personnel for Harbour’s national league teams and more lately the Auckland Tuatara and Northern Kāhu.
Alastair has volunteered as a score table official at numerous senior and age-group national championships hosted by Harbour Basketball in the past 30 years. He also ran score table clinics and oversaw the score tables at North Shore Events Centre during the 2017 World Masters Games.
For many of us who follow the ANBL he is recognised as the score table coordinator for the NZ Breakers since their inception in 2003 – that’s a 22-year span involving over 250 games.
In 2009, ahead of the FIBA U19 Men’s World Championship Alastair qualified as a FIBA Technical Commissioner – a qualification he still holds.
In addition to his work at those Championships he was Technical Commissioner at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games and the 2018 FIBA Under 17 Men’s World Championship in Argentina.
Alastair Tod is the recipient of the Ian Goodwin Services to Officiating Award.
