AON U17 Nationals tip off Wednesday

The 2021 AON Under 17 National Championships tip-off this Wednesday 14 July at the Edgar Centre in Dunedin.

On the last two days, family, friends and fans can watch some of the crucial finals matches with the showcourt being livestreamed on Stuff Sport and www.NZ.basketball/TV.

The 2020 Championships were dominated by Waikato as they claimed both the boys’ and girls’ titles. In fact, Waikato have won four of the last six girls’ championships with only Harbour (2017) and Taranaki (2018) interrupting their recent stranglehold on the trophy. The boys’ tournament has been won by four different regions in the last four years. The Waikato success last year was preceded by Waitakere West in 2019, Wellington in 2018 and Harbour in 2017.

Hosts Otago will be looking for hometown success having last won the girls’ title in 2008 and the boys’ Championship in 2013.
