New Season of NZ Pro 3×3 Quest Starts Saturday

Basketball New Zealand (BBNZ) are excited to welcome back the NZ Pro 3×3 Quest, which proved to be a major success in the hunt to secure more international competition, as well as provide more development for players inside of the 3×3 space.

The NZ Pro 3×3 Quest started as a way to help BBNZ better it’s global federation position in the FIBA 3×3 rankings, leading to more event invites and helping to create a better path towards larger events such as the Commonwealth Games and Olympics.

BBNZ 3×3 Programme Manager, Nikolay Mikhalchuk is excited to once again see the depth of 3×3 talent that New Zealand has to put on display in the 2023-24 NZ Pro 3×3 Quest.

“With the launch of the NZ Pro 3×3 Quest last year, we witnessed a significant leap in our global federation ranking, ascending from 55 to 23. This initiative has been instrumental in establishing a robust base for both our national ranking points and the depth of our 3×3 player pool. It is vitally important that we continue to use all that positive momentum to better ourselves for upcoming major events,” says Mikhalchuk.

“The primary objectives for the upcoming NZ Pro 3×3 Quest season are laying the groundwork for our national ranking points, constructing a solid foundation for the upcoming National 3×3 Hubs’ structure, and utilising the Quest as a tool for selecting participants for pinnacle FIBA 3×3 International Events. These developments signal an exciting phase ahead for us in growing 3×3 space.”

The first stop for the NZ Pro 3×3 Quest for 2023-24 starts tomorrow at Selwyn Sports Centre and will see at least five more stops in Christchurch and Auckland before the New Year.
