New Zealand High School Basketball Documentary TO THE LINE Showcased Internationally

SLAM, a basketball magazine turned modern media company and global lifestyle brand, will premiere the New Zealand independent basketball documentary TO THE LINE this week, which will allow a U.S. and international audience to view the film for the first time.

The documentary premiered on NZ screens in July this year on THREE, later being picked up and aired on Sky Sport.  New Zealanders have been able to view the full documentary on demand on ThreeNOW.

“Premiering on SLAM will attract a huge global audience to the documentary and help to promote New Zealand basketball internationally,” says Antony Young, co-producer of the film. “SLAM is the ‘basketball bible’ and has a massive reach of over 15 million fans and followers.”

The first-time documentary filmmakers spent 18 months following a local college team’s journey to the 2018 Nationals, and one of its players Finn McClure’s hopes to get on the radar of basketball scouts and navigate the hugely competitive landscape of U.S. college sports.

“TO THE LINE is about the aspirations of young individuals looking to take their game to the next level,” says Jack Chapman, the film’s director. “It’s a story of dreams, successes and failures, something we felt young sports people here and around the world can all relate to.”
