Referee Selection Panel – Call for Expressions of Interest

BBNZ is currently preparing the draft Officials Development Framework for consultation with Associations. This updated framework aims to support and strengthen basketball officiating by providing quality resources, pathways and support for referees and officials across Aotearoa.

A key part of the Officials Development Framework is the creation of a Referee Selection Panel with the objective to ‘Objectively and systematically evaluate and recommend candidates for BBNZ event referee positions based on their qualifications, experience, and suitability for the role’.

BBNZ is now seeking expressions of interest for people to join this Referee Selection Panel. If you have a strong system and process approach, an eye for talent, and a commitment to developing refereeing in New Zealand then we invite you to express your interest.

The panel will consist of three selectors in total, with two positions available to join alongside Ken Coulson, who has been appointed into the role of Panel Chair. This is a unique opportunity to be part of shaping the New Zealand Basketball refereeing future and landscape, by ensuring quality appointments are made to our pinnacle competitions.

For further information and a detailed description of the skills and attributes sought, please refer to the Referee Selection Panel – Terms of Reference. These roles are voluntary positions that will receive an honorarium payment as detailed in the Terms of Reference.

Expressions of interest should be made by email to jobs@nz.basketball and include a suitable summary of skills and experience. Applications close Friday 2 February.
