Roller Blacks

The Roller Blacks is the name given in recent years to the New Zealand wheelchair basketball team which was re-established six years ago after New Zealand was in the international wilderness for almost 10 years.

Since 2011 the side has competed in full international tournaments in Korea, Thailand and South Africa as well as playing in the Slam Down Under series in Wollongong, Australia.

Due to its extended isolation from the world stage New Zealand now has much ground to cover to compete successfully at the higher levels of the game but it was evident some players made great strides on the ground-breaking South Africa tour in 2015.

New Zealand’s top players are drawn from right across the country.
