Following confirmation that New Zealand has been pooled with Philippines, Chinese Taipei, and Hong Kong in Group B of the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers, Basketball New Zealand (BBNZ) can now confirm the dates and locations for the Tall Blacks Qualifier games over the next three FIBA windows.
In Window One, the Tall Blacks will travel to Chinese Taipei for their first game on 22 February 2024, before returning to New Zealand to face Hong Kong at home on 25 February 2024.
In Window Two, the Tall Blacks travels to the Philippines to face Gilas Pilipinas on 21 November 2024, returning to New Zealand to battle Chinese Taipei at home on 24 November 2024.
And in Window Three, New Zealand heads to Hong Kong for on 20 February 2025, before returning to New Zealand to play the Philippines at home on 23 February 2025.
Locations for these games – including the three home games in New Zealand – are yet to be determined and will be advised in due course.
Following the conclusion of these pool games across the three Windows, the top two teams of each group will qualify for the FIBA Asia Cup itself – while the third-placed teams from each group will compete in a final qualifying round where the top four teams advance to the FIBA Asia Cup.
The FIBA Asia Cup will also serve as a qualifier for the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup in Qatar.
