3X3.EXE Premier – Round 3 & 4 Recap, 19 June

The South Island kicked back off in Round 3 while the North Island Men’s and Women’s took to Round 4 in more 3×3.EXE action.

Northern Men’s Competition – Round 4

Swish.EXE continued their dominant reign on the Northern Men’s competition, beating Stringrays.EXE in a close battle to continue to remain at 1st place on the ladder.

Swish and Stingrays.EXE both were undefeated in their two pool games before moving onto the Semi-Finals which saw Stingrays narrowly beat last round’s winners Scam.EXE 21-19. Swish moved easily past Coasties.EXE 21-12 to make it to the finals of Round 4, where they held it together to take out a close but fierce battle in their 21-19 win over Stingrays.

The win keeps them top of the table with an exciting four rounds left to come.

Northern Women’s Competition – Round 4

With Wizards.EXE forfeiting their games, it left an open Pool B for Breeze and Phoenix.EXE to head straight into the playoffs, while Pool A saw a competitive Dream.EXE take two convincing wins.

Dream managed to Breeze.EXE past the 3rd placed side and lock a place in the Final. Swish narrowly lost 14-17 to Phoenix who were too dominant in the paint making it a Dream vs Phoenix final.

The Auckland based Dream team were too much for Phoenix in the Grand Final, sending it home with a 21-11 win and securing their spot in the 3×3.EXE Playoffs in Japan. Phoenix managed to scrape through on points differential, sending them with a return flight to Japan as well.

Southern Men’s Competition – Round 3

After a few weeks off, it was back to Middleton Grange where the six teams were rearing to go. Both UC teams managed to top their pools. Each remaining undefeated and booking their places in the Round 3 Playoffs.

Rams.EXE weren’t phased by their current 3rd place position, beating top of the table UC Gold 21-13 to move onto the Grand Final, while UC Maroon who were 5th on the table cleared out Wharenui.EXE to make it through to take on Rams.

Another close game saw Rams.EXE narrowly take victory, winning 21-19 in a fast paced finals match.
