About us:
BBNZ is a not-for-profit incorporated society and is the national body for the sport of basketball in New Zealand. Our role is to develop, grow and promote basketball and participants of the game.
About the role:
We are launching our national On Point programme and seeking a new role to drive its success. As our National Performance & Prevention Manager, you’ll shape how injury prevention and performance is understood and practiced across the entire country, from elite pathways down to secondary school courts. This 12-month fixed term position will allow you to sit at the intersection of sports science, programme management, and community impact.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Lead national rollout and operationalisation of the On Point programme.
- Own the programme plan, budget, and the sustainability pathway that keeps it going long after launch.
- Manage and maintain high-stakes relationships with investment and delivery partners.
- Equip basketball leaders to champion the On Point programme within their own communities.
- Inspire your team with clear direction and the autonomy to deliver their best work
As the successful candidate, you will have:
- Proven leadership of complex, funded programmes.
- Experience delivering to priority populations, such as Māori, females, rangatahi.
- Project management experience with a track record of results.
- Strong understanding of injury prevention and performance principles.
- Excellent relationship-building across all levels of an organisation
- Technology literacy and confidence working with data and insights.
- Flexibility to travel and a passion for sport and wellbeing.

Basketball in Aotearoa has experienced strong growth during the last decade, with more people playing, coaching, officiating, watching, and becoming fans. Basketball New Zealand is the national body for the sport of basketball in Aotearoa. Our role is to develop, grow, and promote basketball and participants of the game.
We’re looking for a Women and Girls Lead – South & Lower North Island for a fixed-term role to help drive this growth across communities, associations, and the wider basketball system. This is a regional leadership role focused on growing participation and leadership opportunities for women and girls in basketball.
You’ll work closely with associations and partners to build capability, strengthen delivery, and create sustainable participation pathways. A key part of the role is leading the regional implementation of our national participation programmes: BNZ Kiwi Hoops and 2degrees Girls Got Game.

- Experience in community sport, participation growth, or system leadership

- Leading the growth of women and girls’ participation and leadership opportunities
