BBNZ Classic Match #14: 2019 FIBA U19 World Cup (Crete, Greece) | Junior Tall Blacks vs. Lithuania

Max Darling was the star for Junior Tall Blacks as they stunned a Lithuanian side ranked 5th in the world. Darling posted a double-double for the young Kiwi side which saw them finish second in their pool only behind an extremely talented US side – the eventual World Cup winners.

Darling finished the game with 17 points and 11 rebounds, as the JTB’s held off the fast-finishing Lithuanians for a 77-75 victory. The talented forward made just 4 of 13 shots, but knocked down one of two attempts from beyond the arc and was a sizzling 8 of 10 from the free-throw line. He added 3 offensive boards among his team-high haul off the glass.

Flynn Cameron chipped in with 14 points (on 5 of 9 shooting), 7 boards and 3 assists for the young Kiwis, while James Moors added 12 points (5/9 FG), Kruz Perrot-Hunt 11 points and 7 rebounds and Max de Geest 11 points.

The game featured 19 lead changes, but it was the final quarter where the Junior Tall Blacks were able to rattle off a 10-0 run to take a lead they would never relinquish.
